Free book narration: file and library limits

Book narration in TGRadio is currently free for everyone, with no monthly character limit. Technical limits still apply: a file can be up to 10 MB, a book's extracted text up to 2 million characters, and a personal library up to 30 books and 20 million characters in total. Check each limit separately.

Separate free narration from library capacity

Listening again is free. Choosing another voice or model requires new audio preparation, but it does not introduce a monthly allowance. These current terms are not a promise that they will remain unchanged forever. Library capacity should not be interpreted as a paid bundle of narration characters.

For example, 20 million characters describes the total capacity of your personal library. It is not the amount you may narrate each month. Waiting for a new month will not change the size of books already added or make room for additional ones.

Check the file size before uploading

An imported file can be up to 10 MB. Check its size in the file properties on your device. If it is larger, prepare a smaller version outside TGRadio. For example, save the section you need as a separate document. The app has no built-in text editor for this preparation.

File size and text length are different measurements. An illustrated book can take up substantial space while containing little text. Images and formulas are not recognised, so reducing the file size will not turn those elements into readable narration text.

Check both book and library capacity

A single book may contain up to 2 million extracted characters. A file below 10 MB can still exceed that limit. If you need only one section, prepare it in an external editor and check that its beginning, ending and reading order remain intact.

Your library has two separate limits: up to 30 books and up to 20 million characters in total. For example, many short books may reach the book-count limit first. A smaller collection of long books may approach the character limit instead.

Distinguish source problems from capacity limits

A PDF without a text layer cannot be narrated just because it is smaller than 10 MB. OCR is not available, and password-protected PDFs are unsuitable. Check whether you can select text in the original document. A scan needs text preparation outside TGRadio.

When importing a link, a sign-in requirement or protected download may block access. A link to one page also does not mean every chapter across multiple pages will be imported. If only part of a book appears, inspect the source before assuming you have reached a monthly allowance.

Identify failures after pressing Play

Import only extracts text. To start audio preparation, select the book and voice, then press Play. Wait for the first ready section after that action. Later sections are prepared as you listen; the whole book is not promised to be ready at once.

If the text is already available but audio preparation stops, a temporary speech synthesis service error may be responsible. Check your connection and try again later. When contacting support, keep the error message and explain whether it appeared during import or after pressing Play.
