Books
Can you turn a book without a table of contents into speech?
You can turn a book without a table of contents into speech if its text can be extracted. A contents list helps you navigate, but it does not create the book's text. Check the content and paragraph order first, then decide whether continuous listening is sufficient or whether to prepare chapters outside TGRadio.
Check the text as well as the navigation menu
Open the file in a suitable ebook reader. If its chapter list is empty, try reading continuously. Inspect the opening, several pages in the middle, and the final paragraphs. An empty navigation menu does not mean the content is absent; the book may contain continuous text without a separate contents structure.
For a PDF, also check whether you can select words as text. Scanned page images require recognition outside TGRadio, which has no built-in OCR. Check several pages because one PDF can contain both text pages and scans.
Distinguish contents links from chapter boundaries
A book without a visible contents list can still contain structural divisions detected during import. Conversely, it may have a printed list of titles at the front without chapter structure in the main text. Inspect the actual import rather than relying on a page labelled Contents.
For example, a short essay may work well as one continuous text. A collection of separate stories has a greater need for navigation: clearly marking each story's beginning can make the prepared copy easier to use.
Start playback and check the sequence
After importing, open the book, choose a voice, and press Play. This starts audio preparation; uploading alone extracts text. Listening can begin with the first ready fragment, and later fragments are prepared as you listen. A separate contents list is not required to start.
Compare the opening audio with the source. If it begins with a lengthy list of headings, front matter, or repeated text, decide whether you need that material. Remove unwanted text in the source outside TGRadio, then import the revised book.
Resume from your saved position
For continuous listening, use the position saved in your profile. To resume on another device, sign in with the same Telegram account. This helps you return to your stopping point even when the book appears as one long division without named chapter links.
A saved position does not replace navigation between meaningful sections. If you frequently revisit particular stories or reference sections, prepare chapters before continuing. After importing the revised copy, check your starting location separately.
Add the boundaries you need
Prepare a TXT copy in a text editor outside TGRadio. For example, place Chapter 1 on a separate line before the first section and Chapter 2 before the next. Follow existing meaningful transitions rather than cutting a paragraph merely to produce equally sized parts.
Check that all sections and their order survived the transfer. After importing, compare chapter openings with the source. Adding a contents structure cannot make images or formulas available for speech: import does not recognise them.
