TXT text-to-speech by chapter: how to format headings
To use TXT text-to-speech by chapter, place a separate heading line before each chapter, for example Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. TGRadio recognises Chapter, Part, Глава and Часть lines with a number or title. Without these markers, blank lines alone do not provide reliable chapter boundaries.
Locate the actual chapter beginnings
Open a copy of the TXT file in a text editor outside TGRadio. Inspect several chapter transitions and identify what separates them: a heading, asterisks, extra space, or just a new paragraph. Check the book's content before changing anything. A scene break within a chapter does not necessarily start another chapter.
A list of titles at the beginning of the file does not structure the main text. Find the matching locations later in the book. Each heading needs to sit immediately before the text of its own chapter.
Put each heading on its own line
For example, write Chapter 1 on one line, then start the opening paragraph on the next. Before the following chapter, add a separate Chapter 2 line. You can include a title, such as Chapter 2. The Return. Use an equally clear marker for a larger division, such as Part 1.
Do not put the heading and the first sentence on the same line. A line that wraps because the editor window is narrow is not an actual line break. Check that the paragraph starts after a real newline.
Check for repeated headings in the contents list
A plain-text contents list may repeat the same Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 lines used in the book. Inspect that list when preparing your listening copy: it can introduce unwanted structural markers and remains part of the extracted text. Remove it from the working copy if you do not need it.
Also inspect ordinary paragraphs. A sentence mentioning the next chapter differs from a separate heading. Avoid replacing every occurrence of the word chapter automatically, since this can split continuous prose in unintended places.
Reopen the saved text
Save the result as a TXT file and reopen it in your editor. Check accented characters, the first chapter, the transition to the second, and the final paragraphs. Fix unreadable characters or missing line breaks before importing. Changing another document's extension to TXT does not convert its contents.
For a long book, inspect transitions near the beginning, middle, and end. Make sure the numbering follows the text and that each heading introduces its chapter.
Import and check the prepared copy
In TGRadio, open Books, choose Upload a book, and select the corrected file. Files can be up to 10 MB, with up to 2 million extracted characters. After import, check whether the expected chapters appear and whether their beginnings match your source.
Choose a voice and press Play to start preparing audio. If the boundaries are still wrong, edit the TXT file outside TGRadio and import it again. TGRadio has no built-in editor for book text or chapter names.
