PDF pages and audio chapters: why the boundaries differ
PDF pages and audio chapters can differ because TGRadio processes PDFs page by page. A literary chapter may span several pages or begin halfway down one. To locate a passage, compare the wording before relying on numbers. If you need chapter boundaries, prepare a different edition outside the application.
Separate page boundaries from chapter boundaries
Open the PDF at the start of a familiar chapter and check where that page ends. A sentence continuing onto the next page shows that the page break falls inside the chapter. A heading alone does not make everything following it one literary chapter during page-based import.
For example, chapter three might begin near the bottom of a page and continue for seven more pages. Several player sections do not necessarily indicate missing content. Check whether the paragraphs remain in sequence before treating the divisions as an import error.
Distinguish file position from printed numbering
Your PDF reader may show a page’s position in the file while the page itself carries a different printed number. Covers, title pages, and contents pages occupy positions even when the book’s printed numbering has not started.
For example, printed page 12 might be the sixteenth page in the file. Inserts and unnumbered pages can change that difference later. Do not assume that one numerical offset will work throughout the book; compare nearby wording at each location.
Match two pieces of text
Choose a short, distinctive phrase near your target passage. Compare it with the audio around the beginning of the relevant section, then check the following paragraph. Two matches help distinguish the intended page from recurring text such as a running header.
If the next section continues the same sentence, the sequence is probably intact. If you hear a repeated passage, a gap, or an abrupt topic change, copy text from the corresponding PDF pages into an editor. This checks whether extraction from the source already produces the wrong order.
Prepare an edition with useful divisions
If you need to select literary chapters, request an authorized EPUB or FB2 of the same edition. TGRadio reads the internal document order and headings in EPUB, and the top-level sections of the main text in FB2. The result depends on the file’s actual structure.
With your own clean text, you can prepare a TXT outside TGRadio. Put headings on separate lines, for example “Chapter 1. Departure”. Import recognizes separate Chapter, Part, Глава, or Часть lines with a number or title. Renaming a PDF to TXT does not convert its structure.
Check the replacement before continuing
After importing the new edition, check several chapter openings. Choose a voice and press Play, then compare the opening sentences with your prepared text. Further structural changes must be made in the external file; TGRadio has no built-in text editor.
Before switching editions, note your current chapter title and a short phrase near your stopping point. Different divisions make the old section number an unreliable guide.
