How to load recent Telegram channel posts for listening
To load recent posts from a public Telegram channel into TGRadio, set the message count to a whole number from 1 to 1,000. New channels use this setting when you add them. For an existing channel, you can fetch more history, while a regular refresh retrieves new posts.
Choose how many messages you need
Start with your purpose: catching up on recent posts or finding something published earlier. For example, you might choose 20 messages for a small selection or 100 to request more history. These numbers refer to messages, rather than days, audio minutes, or text length.
The same number of posts can mean very different amounts of listening. One channel may publish brief notes, while another shares long articles. You can start with a smaller count and increase it later if the posts you need are missing.
The supported range is 1 to 1,000 inclusive. The number you request does not guarantee the number you will receive: Telegram may make fewer messages available in its public history.
Set the count before adding a new channel
A new channel uses your selected recent-message count when you add it. Set the value first so that the initial request covers the amount of available history you want.
Adding a channel to TGRadio does not subscribe you to it in Telegram or change its read status. You can collect posts for listening while keeping your usual Telegram reading routine.
- Open TGRadio settings and find the number of recent messages to load.
- Enter a whole number from 1 to 1,000.
- Add the public Telegram channel you want.
- Check the displayed number of messages received.
Fetch more history for an existing channel
For a channel already in TGRadio, changing the count lets you fetch additional history. Use the button for loading messages into the current channel.
Suppose you started with 20 recent messages and now want to find an earlier post. You can increase the count to 100 and request history for that channel. This does not guarantee exactly 80 additional entries: the result depends on Telegram’s available public web feed.
- Select the channel whose history you want to extend.
- Increase the recent-message count to the value you need, up to 1,000.
- Wait for the history to load after changing the count. To retry, press “Load for current channel”.
- Check how many messages were received and whether the posts you need are present.
Refresh when you want newly published posts
A regular refresh retrieves new channel posts. Use it when you already have the history you need and want to listen to publications that appeared afterward.
To look further back, increase the message count and fetch more history. To get a post published today, refresh the channel. Choose the action according to whether you need earlier material or more recent updates.
Check the result and your existing queue
Your queue and marks are preserved when you change the message count. Lowering the value does not delete older entries. For example, changing it from 100 to 20 will not trim an existing list to twenty posts. The count setting is not a way to clear a channel.
If fewer messages arrive than you requested, use the displayed total as the actual result. Telegram may return incomplete history. TGRadio works with the available public web feed; private channels and history beyond that feed are not supported.
