Uploaded a book but there is no audio? What to check

If you uploaded a book but there is no audio, open it, select a voice and press Play first. Importing only extracts the text; it does not create a recording of the entire book. Audio preparation starts when you request playback, and further passages are prepared as you listen. These actions require an internet connection.

Check that the intended text was imported

Before investigating sound, check the import result. Compare the available section titles with the source. If the structure looks unexpected, open the original file in a separate ebook reader and inspect its contents.

A webpage link does not mean every page of a book will be collected. For example, importing a separately published chapter does not promise to follow links to the remaining chapters. Pages requiring a login or protected download may also fail to import.

Distinguish a source problem from missing audio

A PDF needs a text layer. Scans without text are unsuitable because TGRadio has no OCR. A single PDF can contain both text pages and scanned pages. Selecting another voice cannot make content available when it exists only as an image.

Check the technical limits too: files up to 10 MB and extracted text up to 2 million characters per book. If the source is unsuitable, prepare another file outside TGRadio. There is no built-in editor to restore missing passages or repair extracted lines.

Start preparation by pressing Play

Open Books, choose the imported book and select the voice you want. Press Play while connected to the internet. Do not wait for the first audio before doing this: the playback request is what starts preparation.

You can listen from the first ready passage. Preparation has no guaranteed completion time, so waiting does not by itself prove that importing failed. If sound does not start, check your connection and device volume before uploading the same source again.

Identify what has already been prepared

As listening progresses, the app prepares further passages. Do not assume that starting playback once creates the whole book automatically in the background. A ready opening does not establish that the final chapters are ready.

Changing the voice or model requires another audio version. Audio prepared for a different selection does not replace that work. Changing playback speed is different and requires no new narration. When investigating a delay, first identify which setting you changed.

Check offline saving separately

Before listening without a connection, use Save chapter offline or Save book offline. Offline saving stores prepared and downloaded passages. Do not disconnect immediately after importing or treat a book title in your library as evidence that all its audio is on the device.

Open Offline library on that same device and check the required parts before travelling. New passages still need a connection. If you interrupt saving with Stop download, do not expect the missing parts to be available offline; inspect what was actually saved.
