Read a book larger than 10 MB aloud: prepare the file
To read a book larger than 10 MB aloud in TGRadio, prepare a suitable file outside the app first. The limit applies to the imported document’s size. Sending it through the bot or adding a link does not raise that limit. Choose a suitable approach: another text edition, smaller images, or separate book parts.
Identify what makes the file large
Check the file’s size in its properties and open it in a reader. Images, scanned pages, or a genuinely long text can all increase its size. These require different solutions: reducing images does not reduce the character count, and splitting a scan does not create a text layer.
For example, a short novel with high-resolution photographs may be larger than a much longer text edition. In a PDF, try selecting a sentence. If no text can be selected, address text recognition in an external program before preparing smaller sections.
Look for a suitable text edition first
Check whether your source offers the same book as EPUB, FB2, TXT, or PDF with a text layer. Choose a copy you have the right to use. An existing text edition may remove the need to manually process a large document.
Verify that the work is complete: a smaller file may be an abridgement, a sample, or a different volume. For example, compare its title, opening chapter, and ending. Changing formats does not improve the original text, so errors and omissions in a smaller edition will remain during narration.
Reduce images using an external program
If illustrations account for the size, work on a copy in a suitable editor or converter. Lowering image resolution or removing unnecessary decorative elements may reduce the file size. TGRadio does not include a tool for this preparation.
Do not remove images indiscriminately: they may contain captions, diagrams, or meaningful content. After saving, check the text and section order. ZIP compression does not turn the book into a smaller supported document: upload the book file itself rather than an archive.
Split the book at meaningful boundaries
If a smaller complete copy is impractical, split the document outside TGRadio by chapters, parts, or volumes. Each part must be a valid supported file no larger than 10 MB. Preserve the original numbering in filenames so the reading order remains clear.
Check the joins: the last sentence of one part and the beginning of the next should follow without omissions or repetition. For example, names such as Part 01 and Part 02 help distinguish the documents. Do not split raw file data: doing so may make an EPUB or PDF unreadable.
Account for text and library limits
Alongside the file-size limit, extracted text is limited to 2 million characters per book. A personal library holds up to 30 books and 20 million characters in total. Separately uploaded parts occupy separate book slots, so account for the number of files you prepare.
These are import and storage limits, rather than a monthly allowance: narration is free, with no monthly character limit. After uploading, inspect the first part, choose a voice, and press Play. If the opening or a chapter boundary is damaged, correct the document outside the app before continuing with other imports.
