Offline audiobooks in Telegram: when to use a regular browser
If offline audiobooks will not open inside Telegram, try saving the part you need in a regular browser. Telegram’s embedded window may handle local storage and offline app features differently. Successful online playback does not establish that saving audio and reopening it without a connection will work in the same window.
Identify where the book is open
Check whether you are listening in the Mini App inside Telegram or in a separate browser. These are different environments, even on one phone. Seeing the book in your shared profile does not mean its local audio is available everywhere you sign in.
For example, a book saved in your phone’s browser may play there offline while the Mini App still needs a connection. That difference alone does not indicate a problem with the source text or the voice you selected.
Distinguish offline support from online playback
Offline access needs the browser’s offline app mechanism, called a Service Worker, and available local storage. Embedded windows may restrict these capabilities. You do not need to configure them manually: use Save chapter offline while connected, let it generate and save any missing audio, then test playback without a connection.
Do not choose an environment solely because Play works with the internet on. An offline test also does not guarantee background playback. Behavior when a window is minimized or the screen is locked can vary between browsers.
Set up a test in a separate browser
Open TGRadio in a regular browser on the same device and sign in with the same Telegram account. This gives you access to your profile and listening position. Confirm browser sign-in in the bot when the codes match; you do not give TGRadio your Telegram password.
Find the title in Books, choose a voice, and press Play. If audio is not ready, this action starts its preparation. Do not assume that fragments saved inside another window are already stored in this browser.
Test one saved section
For the first test, choose a chapter and use Save chapter offline while connected. The button prepares and saves missing audio; prior playback is unnecessary. Wait for completion, disconnect from the internet, then open Offline library in that same browser. Check that the required passage starts playing, rather than only checking that the book title appears.
If the test succeeds, save the other prepared parts you need in your chosen browser. One working chapter confirms access to that chapter. It does not establish that later chapters are available when their audio has not been prepared or downloaded.
Keep the environment that passed the test
For your trip, use the same browser and device where offline listening worked. Do not sign out or clear browser storage before leaving: those actions remove local audio. A listening position in your profile cannot restore downloads without a connection.
If both environments fail, contact support with your device, browser name, and the point of failure: saving, opening Offline library, or starting a fragment. Those observations are more useful than assuming an entire operating system is incompatible.
