Why your offline audiobook still uses the previous voice
To hear a different voice in an offline audiobook, prepare and save audio with that voice selected. Changing an online setting does not rewrite earlier downloads. If the old voice returns without a connection, check the voice and model online first, then save the version you want on the device you will use.
Check the voice while connected
Open the book in Books, check the selected voice and model, and press Play. Listen to the version playing with an internet connection. Changing a setting alone does not mean audio for that setting has already been prepared or saved locally.
If you still hear the previous voice online, leave the offline copy aside for now. Check your voice and model choices again, and make sure you have opened the book you intend to save.
Separate voice, model, and playback speed
A different voice or model needs a new audio version. Playback speed works differently: changing it does not require new narration. Hearing a familiar voice at a faster pace therefore does not show that a new voice version is ready.
For example, switching from a female voice with model 1 to a male voice with model 2 does not transform previously saved fragments. Check both settings. Choose playback speed separately according to what feels comfortable to you.
Prepare the passage you need
Importing a book adds its text. Audio preparation starts when you select the book and voice and press Play. Later fragments are prepared as you listen, so a playable opening does not mean the entire book is ready.
Choose the part you plan to hear offline and check it with the new settings. If only the beginning is available after a voice change, the amount saved for an earlier voice does not establish how much exists in the new version.
Save the selected version again
While connected, use Save chapter offline or Save book offline with the voice and model you want selected. The button generates missing fragments, downloads them and stores them locally. For the whole book, allow saving to finish without an error or cancellation, with enough storage available, then check the saved version without a connection.
Save on the device you will take with you. Your shared profile helps you resume listening, but audio stored on a computer does not automatically appear in your phone’s storage. Check the result on the actual listening device.
Test the same passage without a connection
After saving, disconnect from the internet, open Offline library in the same app or browser, and play a familiar passage. Comparing the same section makes it easier to identify the voice without confusing a different speaking pace with a different sound.
If the old voice remains, reconnect and check the chosen voice, model, and saved parts again. Avoid clearing browser storage as a troubleshooting shortcut: doing so removes local audio and means you will need to save it again.
