FB2 narration: checking chapters, poetry, and notes
Before starting FB2 narration, check the main text and a few passages with footnotes. TGRadio identifies top-level section elements in the main body and excludes notes and comments blocks. That does not remove every explanation: notes written within the main text may remain. Poetry and sentences relying on footnotes deserve separate checks.
Compare chapters with the main body
The main content of an FB2 file is held in a body, with section elements marking its divisions. TGRadio uses the top-level sections of the main body during import. Do not assume every nested subsection will appear as a separate chapter in your library; inspect the imported result.
For example, a book may contain one large part with three short chapters inside it. Check that all three appear within the imported section and follow the correct order. The number of displayed sections alone does not establish that text is missing. Compare opening phrases and the sequence of the narrative.
Check a note alongside its referring sentence
FB2 notes and comments blocks are excluded during import. If an important explanation is stored there, it will not form part of the narrated text. Find a footnote in the original and read its referring sentence without the explanation to judge whether it remains understandable.
For example, a character might use an unfamiliar historical term explained only in a note. You may need to consult that explanation separately while listening. Keep the original book accessible for these checks. A missing explanation in the audio does not necessarily mean a paragraph of the main narrative was lost.
Do not assume every inserted explanation disappears
Notes can be stored in different ways. An explanation written as an ordinary paragraph within the main body is not affected by excluding notes and comments blocks. You therefore cannot assume the imported book will contain no footnotes, commentary, or editorial insertions.
For example, a paragraph labelled “Translator’s note” may be included directly in the main text and remain after extraction. If that interrupts your intended listening, edit a separate copy outside TGRadio and import it again. The app has no built-in text editor for removing individual paragraphs.
Listen to one stanza before a longer session
For poetry, check line order, words around line breaks, and transitions between stanzas. Extracting the words does not guarantee expressive delivery, rhythm, or the author’s intended pauses. Select the book and voice, press Play, and compare a short passage with the original.
For example, try a stanza where a sentence continues onto the next line. If the meaning seems different, check whether a word was lost while preparing the file. If the words are intact but the delivery feels unsuitable, that is a separate issue. TGRadio has no pronunciation editor, SSML controls, or manual pause settings.
Repeat targeted checks after making changes
Work on a copy of the FB2 in an external editor if you know the format, or prepare a separate text version of the passage. Add any explanations to the main text before import. Do not expect the app to move excluded footnotes automatically to their referring sentences.
Import the revised version with a distinguishable name and check three places: the start of a nested chapter, a sentence with a footnote, and your selected stanza. Keep the same voice for comparison. If meaning depends on an illustration or formula, consult the original: those elements do not receive an automatic spoken description.
