How to read and listen to the same book without losing your place
To read and listen to the same book, use matching text and mark each switch with a chapter and a few opening words from a paragraph. Read in a separate ebook app and listen in TGRadio. TGRadio does not synchronise an external reader’s page or highlight its text, so you need to keep that reference yourself.
Check the edition before switching
Open the ebook in your reader and compare it with the source added to TGRadio. Check the translator, the first chapter title and several paragraph openings. Different editions can vary in wording and section order even when the cover and title appear identical.
Avoid using page numbers as your main reference. An ebook reader changes page boundaries with font size, margins and screen dimensions. A paragraph may fill several phone screens but fit on one tablet screen. A chapter and distinctive opening words provide a more stable reference.
Keep a short location note
Create a note outside TGRadio for the book title, chapter and paragraph opening. For example: “Chapter 4, paragraph beginning: The train stopped that morning.” This is a reference you maintain manually, rather than a shared bookmark connecting the two apps.
Choose words that are distinctive enough to find again. “He said” may occur repeatedly. If the opening is common, add the next short phrase or a few words describing what happens at that point in the story.
Switch to audio at a natural break
Finish a paragraph or short scene in your reader. Note the opening of the next paragraph, then open the book in TGRadio. If this is your first playback, select a voice and press Play; audio preparation begins after that action.
Check what you hear against the text before putting the screen away. A little overlap can confirm that you have reached the right scene. Do not calculate the location from a page number, because pages have no direct correspondence with audio time.
Find the paragraph after listening
Pause after a complete thought and note the last phrase you clearly understood. Open the same chapter in your separate reader. Use its search feature if available, or scan the nearby paragraphs yourself to locate the passage.
If a name or number sounded unclear, search for an ordinary phrase beside it instead. Read the uncertain wording in the source. Avoid treating an approximate spelling heard in the audio as an exact quotation; it could lead you elsewhere.
Distinguish the audio position from the reader’s page
TGRadio saves your listening position in your profile. Sign in with the same Telegram account to continue the audio on another device. Your external reader manages its own reading position; TGRadio’s saved position does not move that app’s page.
Update your manual note before changing devices. For a trip without internet access, prepare the text separately in your reader and save the required ready audio passages in TGRadio on the listening device. A shared profile does not transfer locally saved audio between devices.
