Audiobook won’t start after import: what to check
If your audiobook won’t start after import, open the book, choose a voice, and press Play first. Import extracts the text; audio preparation begins when you start playback. A book appearing in your library does not mean its opening fragment is already voiced. Then check the player state, connection, and any error one at a time.
Confirm that you actually started playback
Open Books and select the book. If you have only finished uploading a file or adding a link, press Play once. There is no need to wait for ready audio before doing this: importing does not automatically produce audio for the entire book.
Watch whether the player changes state after the press. If it shows preparation in progress, the request has been accepted. Avoid repeatedly pressing Play or changing the book, voice, and model together. Keeping one setting unchanged makes the result easier to understand.
Distinguish preparation from stopped playback
The selected voice version needs audio preparation before its first playback. There is no guaranteed completion time. If the player still indicates preparation and shows no error, the absence of immediate sound does not by itself establish that something has failed.
Later fragments are prepared as you listen. A pause can therefore occur after playback has already started successfully. For example, the ready opening of a chapter may finish while the next fragment is still being prepared. That differs from the player showing no response to the initial press of Play.
Check the connection on this device
Preparing new fragments and retrieving audio require a connection. Check whether other pages open on the same device. A book page that was already open does not prove the connection is still working: it may remain visible after internet access has been lost.
If the connection is unavailable, restore it and return to the book. Keep the player page open while testing. Do not use minimizing the app as a startup test: background playback depends on the browser and is not guaranteed in every browser.
Retry after an explicit error
If you see a preparation or speech service error, read its wording first. Adjusting volume cannot resolve a failure that occurs before audio exists. Retry after restoring the connection or after the failed attempt has ended, rather than pressing the button in quick succession.
Keep the same voice during this check. Changing it requires a different audio version and introduces fresh preparation. Repeat listening is free, but repeated starts do not guarantee that a technical error will disappear. You do not need to upload the same file again merely to retry Play.
Record the symptom before requesting help
If the playback position advances but nothing is audible, check volume, tab muting, and the selected audio output instead. If the position stays still, record the error text and whether it appeared immediately after Play or at a transition to another fragment.
For support, prepare the book title, browser or Mini App, selected voice, and actions that led to the problem. Mention whether another book starts on the same connection. Do not send your Telegram password or sign-in code; neither is needed to describe a playback failure.
